I just did a simple test and cannot reproduce this on Windows. But I suspect that if your scrapbook folder contains lots of files, Scribus will need some time to read all files and create the thumbnails.

My scrapbook contains 70 files (4.2 MiB). I waitet for 0000033:0000015 minutes and it kept being unresponsive. That was way more time, then it initially took to index the folder, when I declared it as an scrapbook folder.

Okay, I just checked with a new scrapbook folder with two files in it. Copying files in it and removing files works as it should.

Beats me! Any ideas?

you might have one of the file which is triggering a bug in the preview code... (code that is probably external to scribus)
