Summary0016910: French typo
DescriptionHi,

I developed from scratch a new script to deal with French typo (and only typo, then it deals only with spaces).

The script is named typoImprimerieNationale.py (because it respects the French typo of the Imprimerie nationale from France).

It has been full documented (internal and external).

Script and doc can be found here:

 https://github.com/patricekaratchentzeff/Scribus

The interest is that is a sane basement for other languages if you want to develop general typo aspect. Of course, you can run the script on a frametext or on all the document.

I test only with python 3.10.6 and Scribus 1.5.8.

Thanks to all for your nice job,

PK

This looks cool. Not a french speaker here but could you provide a screencast of this addon in action ?

Scribus has something called "Short Words" under the Extras menu. Settings are under Preferences. How is yours different?

Here are 3 screenshots for add-on in action:

1: a warning for giving the add-on perimeter (focus only on spaces; need another add-on for French characters)
2: the different ways of running (on a single frame or on the whole doc)
3: a sum-up of the action

@ cbradney

If you talk about extra menu for non breakable spaces, my script aims to be more precise, because this current add-on does not respect the real French typo (there are many non-break spaces in French - see my doc to understand). It is better that nothing, but if you want to publish a paper in France, and you are processionnal, you need to respect the French typo.

In add, there is no way to adapt the current add-on,, which is to simple. This is the reason why I had to rewrite it.
