Summary0007677: Editing in Text Box and Story Editor
DescriptionTo edit, double click in text box.
Top ruler shows width and positions for tab stops.

Tab stops are too big, thick and very difficult to place accurately.
Tab stops are 1 mm wide and almost completely covered by the unnecessary double pointer cursor.

Requests:
-- Instead of tab stop "L" have a dotted line the full height of the text box

-- Make tab stops thin on the ruler, can be displayed as an x (cross hairs) or a y (V with vertical dropper) a T or a V any of these would be an unobtrusive representative of tab positions.

-- Apply tab stops to every line instead of separate tab for each line.
-- Make Story Editor tabs representative of Text Box tabs, at the moment neither apply.

Remove Styles column from Story Editor unless requested.egs:(Click here to to set Individual Line styles) and then only apply to the specific line of text.

-- Font and font style in Story Editor is not reflected in F <Properties><Text> settings.

-- Spin Boxes in <Properties><Text> click by count of 2 when there is text in
the text box but by 1 when text box is empty.

Steps To ReproduceClick in text box and try setting tabs, etc, as above.

Are you really using 1.3.3.5cvs? The stable version is 1.3.3.12.

Requests:
-- Instead of tab stop "L" have a dotted line the full height of the text box

Possible

-- Make tab stops thin on the ruler, can be displayed as an x (cross hairs) or a y (V with vertical dropper) a T or a V any of these would be an unobtrusive representative of tab positions.

Possible

-- Apply tab stops to every line instead of separate tab for each line.

Why?

-- Make Story Editor tabs representative of Text Box tabs, at the moment neither apply.

SE is a text editor, not for visualisation of formatting

-- Remove Styles column from Story Editor unless requested.egs:(Click here to to set Individual Line styles) and then only apply to the specific line of text.

It could be optional to show this column, however 1.3.3.x only supports style formatting per paragraph.

-- Font and font style in Story Editor is not reflected in F <Properties><Text> settings.

In my testing it is with 1.3.3.x...?

-- Spin Boxes in <Properties><Text> click by count of 2 when there is text in
the text box but by 1 when text box is empty.

Once again, your version is old and your Qt is likely to be too old too.

@PeterBenedek are any of these feature requests still relevant?

This function is very cumbersome in the Scribus! I don't like to use... ...and doesn't work well!

Cumbersome:
- Tabulator setting on the ruler. This is not accurate!
- Tabulator modification (replacement) on the ruler (left, right, center etc.)
- First line indent, right indent, left indent setting is not possible on the ruler (only in style). Why??? It is manually set only. This is not accurate!

It's good idea: http://www.peachpit.com/content/images/chap4_9780321772848/elementLinks/04fig26.jpg
