Summary0012923: Multiple paragraphs with text style
DescriptionWhen selecting all paragraphs in the story editor with Command+A and choosing a style in the drop-down menu, the assigned style shows up on the left side of the paragraphs. However, the style hasn't been truely applied. Text still shows as Arial instead of the style's font. Only manually selecting the paragraph style again for every paragraph correctly assigns the style.

Uploaded a sample file. Issue persists with 1.5.1/OS X 10.11.3. Trying to set all paragraphs to the style "Standard Paragraph" will set every paragraph (except the empty ones!) to Arial 12 point.

Seven years later and this has still not been addressed or resolved? I'm trying to reformat a novel for large print; it would be a complete waste of time to go through and change 2500+ paragraph styles one-by-one. I attempted to update multiple paragraphs with the style selector in the upper right of the story editor window. The style tags did update...but, when I attempted to "Update Text Frame", the text did not change to match the selected style. I attempted going into the style editor window and re-saving; no change. I tried saving, exiting the program and re-starting; the same problem re-appeared on restart.

I'm attaching a screenshot showing one of my chapters. You'll see the chapter heading and the first paragraph in the proper large print style; I changed those with the tabs on the left of the story editor window one by one. The rest of the double page spread I attempted to change by selecting multiple paragraphs and updating the styles. You'll see that the style editor tags reflect the chosen style, but the text itself never updated to match the style. I'm using Scribus 1.5.8 on Ubuntu Studio 22.04, recently updated.

i think that we should create a tool call "style editor" that can be opened from the story editor.

on the left side you would have the text on the left as a qlistwidget and the style drop downs on the right.

on the left pain you should be able to select mulpiple items and, then, only the rows in the right column would get merged and you can apply the style on the lines you selected on the left side.

I agree that changing the style across multiple paragraphs is a challenge, but the idea of having applied paragraph styles in the first place would be to edit the style and then all paragraphs change in one go.
You could of course edit the sla file as a workaround.

One of the problems, @cbradney , is that I did set up my styles in the beginning and then imported my text from LibreOffice. Scribus ignored my style settings and kept the type size and font from LibreOffice. I had to go through and change every paragraph to get the Large Print look and feel I was aiming for.
