Summary | 0013338: Images cropped and scaled in MS Publisher are imported with incorrect scale and region of image when .pub is opened in Scribus
Description | Cropping and scaling (MS Publisher terminology) is not imported as image position and scaling (Scribus terminology) so an incorrect part of an incorrectly scaled image appears in the imported document. Trying to manually scale to same scale as publisher causes image quality loss.
Steps To Reproduce | Place an image in a .PUB document. Crop it to select some region of the image. Scale the cropped image. Save the .PUB Open/Import the .PUB in Scribus Observe that the image is present and correct size, position on page but showing incorrect part of the original image.
Additional Information | In example attached publisher shows image was scaled 208% and also displays (in inches) what part of the original image was cropped. Scribus image properties show 100% scale, no offset in position to reflect cropping region. Manually setting scaling to same as publisher (208%) and manually positioning to produce same "crop" within frame results in an image at lower resolution (dpi) than original publisher image, so even manual fixup is lossy (as well as impractical).

Sorry, can't fix that, as the underlying libmspub doesn't provide the needed informations to get the cropping and scaling right. |
|
Franz, it doesn't provide it 'yet' or definitively never ? Shall we let the documentliberation folks know or is this a known issue? |
|
It's already two times in their bugtracker. |
|
fschmid, thanks for the reply. Can you post the bug urls? I have trouble searching their bug tracker (haven't figured out how to navigate bugzilla yet) |

These are the 2 libmspub upstream bugs: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54189 https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78733 |
