| Summary | 0017748: Merging the contents of two or more independent text-frames | ||||
| Description | I request it would be possible to select two or more independet text-frames and merging their contents. At least, text-only for now. | ||||
| Additional Information | An other way around would also be nice. Selecting two linked text-frames and making them independent based on what they already contain: whatever is already visible in them. | ||||

the second part (splitting the text chain) is already there. ('item' → 'text frame links' → 'unlink text frame and cut text') |
|

…and as a test shows the whole feature is already implemented. when i link two populated text frames. the two parts of the text are connected. |

Hey, @utnik. Thanks for your input. I am aware that you can link text-frames already, but that only works when only one text-frame has the text (which overflowing in most cases), and you link new text-frame(s) and the overflowing text populates the new one(s). You actually reminded me. I forgot to mention that I meant when two (or more) independent text-frames already have text in them. Hence the word 'merging'. Did you mean that is already possible? Afaik, it is not (I might be missing more careful testing though). |

And I meant the same for the splitting as well. Whatever you see in different frames, text gets spilt exactly there and the frames become unlinked, still having the same text in them what was there before (when they were linked). As for now, when you unlink two linked frames the second one in the order is empty and the first one gets all the text (showing the overflow sign). |

I agree with untnik. Both features -- as I understand them -- are already implemented in Scribus. |
