Summary0008464: Better textfield access by pressing T when selected for direct editing
DescriptionWhen text "object" is selected, just press T for entering the direkt editing mode (like doubleclick) instead of deselecting it.

This is just for optimizing the workflow. Doubleclick can be tricky for a some people. Ctrl+T is not always the best option for WYSIWYG.

"t" is already is already used for creating text frames (and i don't want to lose it!)

i wonder if it is possible to bind "T" (shift+t) to the content tool (well, graphically it's a text tool)

or should it be "c"?

any idea for a better button which would relate to a content tool instead of a text tool?

ciao

No no. You don't "loose" it. The "T" is just if you already selected a text frame. When the frame is selected, you will entering the "editing" mode, the samle like double clicking the text frame.

When you don't have a text frame selected, "t" get you the Text frame tool.

PS. Some tools open the editing frame by pressing enter if the text frame is selected, but this is sometimes very frustrating.

Yes, you loose it. Even if a frame is selected, one must be able to use that shortcut to create a new text frame.

Ok. Is than there any key to simulate the double click?
If "T" isn't possible, "enter" whould be nice, too.

Btw: "T" for editing is used in Corel & inkscape for example.

P.S. I've tested a little bit, and in most tools, when you're in the editing mode, the mouse cursor changes to this classic "douple-T" when the mouse is above the frame, and changes back to the "text tool icon" if outside of the frame. So there is no problem to make a new frame if the mouse is outside of the frame even if you're in the editing mode.
