Hey ale,
I can't reproduce on OSX 10.8.5 1.5svn r19332
Question: In step 1: 'create a frame' do you mean Insert > Frames > Text Frame (Same as page margins)
or just a regular text frame ?

i dont reproduce neither. could it be that your scribus needs a clean rebuild ?

happens also on a fresh build.

and firas can reproduce...

you might have to first click on a different part of the text frame then the end of the text...

I can reproduce the issue if I double-click on a word, selecting it, then pressing the delete key.

That is also reproducible if the Text Frame contains more Paragraph Styles and Delete key is pressed after the last character before of the next Paragraph Style.

The cause of the issue is the Del button which is used as a shortcut for
Edit > Delete. Changing that shortcut fixes the problem.

even if you set edit > delete from del to ctrl-del you can normally use del for everything

currently, pressing <del> while editing text seems to always (or often) delete the frame.

changing the "edit > delete" shortcut to "ctrl-del" (from "del") allows to use both "del" and "ctrl-del" for deleting characters or frames... but avoids the bug where the frame gets deleted while in text editing mode.

i wonder if the double definition of the key is the source of the problem.

[17:23:57] <FirasH> that issue was introduced with shourtcuts update some months ago
[17:25:19] <FirasH> http://scribus.net/websvn/comp.php?repname=Scribus&compare[]=/trunk/@19293&compare[]=/trunk/@19294 [^]
[17:25:34] <FirasH> "Ctrl+K" was changed to "Del"

i guess that the solution is to completely removing the shortcut for edit > delete

... or removing the hard coded delete and only leave the one from the preferences (if, then, that one works correctly)

So as to fix the code, it could be that the "Object delete" action
on a frame should first check that scribus is not in "Content edit" mode.
