Summary0015529: Text area with text on a master page makes scrolling lag a lot on a long (about 120 pages) document
DescriptionScrolling through a document with 120 pages I'm working on is good, until I put a text frame with some text on a master page. Then, on the pages which the master page has been assigned to, scrolling through the document has long lags soon before it encounters the text in the master pages. When it is finally showed for a given page, that page scrolls ok, until I scroll to another page; then again it lags before showing the text in the master page; and so on. Strangely enough, if the master pages contain only images (no text), scrolling stays smooth.

I have exactly the same issue. I'm currently paginating a book that has two master pages, left and right with dynamic page numbers, and the text flowing throughout the layout. When I scroll (down or up doesn't matter) and I move to another page it stops, then shows the text and restart flowing until I reach the next page, where it stops again. And so on. It seems it has the hiccups. I have no experience with master pages containing only images, since I work with text only.

Hi leodurruti

Use you the chained text frames?

Hi Peter,

yes, apart from the first, let's say, 8 pages and the last 4, all the text frames are chained.

Ok. I think it's the same 0001036

@PeterBenedek: I think it's perhaps related, but at least with 1.5.4 things got better.
I can notice severe lag "only" in these cases:

- as I wrote, if there's text on the master page assigned to the long text chain, the document scrolls smoothly until soon before displaying the master page text
- even with no text on the master page assigned to the long text chain, if I modify text in the long text chain (doesn't matter if I do it at the beginning or the end of the chain) input is rather sluggish; and scrolling through the pages after the current one gets sluggish too, with a lag soon before displaying next page text (scrolling backwards stays smooth)
