Summary0001665: Wiki: homepage news about Wiki, addition to Community Resources, Wiki navigation menu
Description1. A piece of news about the new Scribus Wiki on the homepage and a link to it in the Community resources would help to attract more users to it.

2. Wiki navigation menu: since we have something like a common structure now, it would be good to have a new navigation box titled "Categories" below the "Navigation" box, containing the following links:

* [[:Category:HOWTO|HOWTOs]]
* [[:Category:TIP|Tips & Tricks]]
* [[:Category:Scripts_&_Plugins|Scripts & Plugins]]
* [[:Category:FAQ|FAQ]]
* [[:Category:Discussion|Ongoing Discussions]]

I think, this link meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Customization (proceeded by http:// :) is a good start.

How do I customise the Quickbar/Navigation bar?

When using the older table formated Skin pages, the left hand Quickbar is displayed by the Skin::quickBar function.

When using the newer PHPTal formatted pages, the navigation, search and toolbar blocks are layed out in the template spec file (/templates/xhtml_slim.pt under 1.3 /skins/MonoBook.php under 1.4). Under 1.4 you can add items to the navigation block by manipulating the $wgNavigationLinks array which is defined in /includes/DefaultSettings.php. Any changes should be made in /LocalSettings.php Under 1.3 you can only add items by changing the xhtml_slim.pt file

xhtml_slim.pt is in for 1.3.x. Just had a look. Makes sense, tho looks a little complicated :) Need to work out how to create the links...

Maciej, I have added HOWTO, Tips and FAQ for now, please email me if you want others links. Its easy enough in MW 1.4.x but it does require a minor amount of PHP hacking.
