Summary0006989: Applying styles to text imported via "Get text" doesn't take effect
DescriptionWhen I create a new text frame, and fill it with text via "Get text", choose an OpenOffice document and tick the box 'import text only', the text gets imported and styled according to the default paragraph style, or the paragraph style assigned to the text frame.
When I try to assign a different style to a certain paragraph, this does not seem to work and does not take effect. Fonts and style remain the same, even though the style displayed in the story editor to the left of the paragraph changes.

If I do a new text frame and copy and paste the text from OpenOffice into the story editor, everything works as expected.
Steps To ReproduceSee above
Additional InformationIn the attached file (sorry, I'm working on the German version now), the text in the frames on page 1+2 has been imported via "Get text". Here, changing paragraph styles doesn't do anything.
The text in the small cyan box on page 1 has been copied and pasted, and here everything works as expected.
The same for the longer article on page 6. For this article, I first tried to import it via 'Get text' (ticking the box 'import text only'), with the result that I could not change the styles (or style changing don't take effect).
I then deleted the text frame, created a new one and copied/pasted the very same text from OpenOffice. As can be seen, here styles can be applied and it works.

This is a known issue. It occurs because "Get text" is not quite up to date vs text changes in 1.3.4+. Currently it uses direct formatting which override styles you can apply afterwards. Workaround : first use character and paragraph style sweepers in properties palette

Could we imagine that an attempt to affect a style to a paragraph that contains direct formatting parts would popup some sort of dialog offering to reset DF and then actually apply the selected style? Rather than return silently

The real problem is that gettext itself currently uses direct formatting. I think that problem should be tackled first.

First fixes have been committed. Noticeably text imported with the "import text only" option has no styles applied to it and can be formatted easily afterwards.

In my text document test1.txt I have styles assigned by \hd and \bdy
so the text doc looks like...
\hdThis is My Header
\bdyThis is the Body
\hdThis is My Header
\bdyThis is the Body
\hdThis is My Header
\bdyThis is the Body

then in my paragraph styles i have set two styles Head and Body. I choose get text, the for the importer I choose text filters. In the text filters I set it up as follows.

1)Apply Paragraph Style Head
to Paragraphs starting with \hd (checkmark) and Remove Match
2)Apply Paragraph Style Body
to Paragraphs starting with \bdy (checkmark) and Remove Match

But when i complete it and import the text it just ignores the styles completely. Not sure if this is the same issue or a different one but sounds similar.

apologies, It does work now. By simply removing the '(checkmark) and Remove Match' while I import it has corrected the issue.

More fixes committed : applying a named paragraph style now reset direct formatting applied to characters, character styles applied to characters are preserved
