Summary0008461: Column/Frame Breaks involving Inline Frames Handled Incorrectly
DescriptionWhen a column of a multi-column text frame has a line that begins with an in-line frame, and the frame is high enough to accommodate the frame on a line but is not high enough to accommodate text with descenders, the frame is placed on a line by itself and the rest of the line is moved to the next column, instead of the entire line being moved to the next column.
Steps To ReproduceCreate a 2-column text frame. Set line spacing to fixed, 20pt, and set first line offset to "line spacing". Type the following text into the frame in some suitable font (12pt or thereabouts):

 "Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 Line 4".

Then create a small (e.g. 4pt by 4pt) rectangle, select it, and copy and paste it into the text frame as an inline frame, right before "Line 3".

Set the text frame height to 100pt and adjust the width so that the lines break right after each digit. Now the first column contains four lines:

 Line 1
 Line 2
 xLine 3
 Line 4

where "x" denotes the inline frame, and the right column is empty.

Change the height to 65pt (may need to be slightly larger depending on the font in use).

This is enough room for the first three lines (60 points for the baseline spacing, 2 points for the top/bottom margins as per issue 8460, and 3 points (or more depending on the font) for possible descenders, so the first column now contains lines 1 to 3 and line 4 is moved to the next column. This is
all as expected.

Now, change the height to 61pt. This is not enough room for the first three lines (60 points are required for the baseline spacing and 2 more points for the top/bottom margins as per issue 8460), so now column 1 contains lines 1 and 2 while column 2 contains lines 3 and 4. Again, this is as expected.

But now change the height to exactly 62pt (or 63pt or 64pt). Now, the first column contains THREE lines, but the third line contains only the inline frame: the rest of the third line is shown in the second column.

Note that, in this example, there are no descenders on any characters in the third line. So there is plenty of room for the glyphs of the third line all to fit in the first column. However, it appears that for font glyphs scribus is being conservative and allowing for the descenders of any character in the font (not just the ones actually present on the line) -- while for the inline frame it does not reserve any descender space at all, and hence the line is broken inappropriately.

If scribus deems there is not enough vertical space to render an entire line, it should flow the entire line over to the next column (or frame in the case of linked frames), rather than rendering only part of the line and leaving a very ragged break.

I can reproduce in 1.4.6 (see attached 146.png)
The rectangle (@ in the text editor) is not accepted as a letter, you see the behavior exactly if you for example write ling instead of line.

In 1.5.2 I get something similiar to bug 0003051, that in 1.4.6 is a bug, in 1.5.2 not...
