Summary0009835: Impossible to see resize handles due to object color
DescriptionIf you create, say, a red rectangle, the resize handles (the 8 little squares on the sides of the object that allow you to resize the object) become invisible, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.

I think there should be logic included that would alter the color of the handles/selection rectangle when it matches the color of the object.

If that is complicated to code or resource consuming, perhaps there could be an option to press a key combination to enable alternate color of the selection box and its resize handle? I.e., normally it's red, but if you press, say, ALT+SHIFT+C the color changes to yellow until you press ALT+SHIFT+C again.
Steps To ReproduceCreate a rectangle and fill it with default color "Red". Then select it.
Additional InformationI see the frame "selected" color in the preferences, but it doesn't seem to do anything, so I am unsure whether it would change the color of the selection box/resize handles to which I am referring here. However, even if one changes the color, there will always be a possible case when the two colors (the object and the selection box) are the same.

As you quite rightly point out "there will always be a possible case when the two colors are the same"... so I am not sure what you are proposing here.

You can change the preferences and then it will affect new documents. It doesn't seem to be a setting exposed per document though.

Well, it's hard for me to make reasonable proposals, as I'm unfamiliar with how to code any of this, but few scenarios come to mind (see attached image for visual examples):

1) Make the resizing squares of color that is inverse of whatever is under the square - this is how MS Word does it (first example in the image).

2) Make the two-color resizing squares - this is how Open Office does it (second color would be the outline; second example in the pic)

3) Make large resizing squares that are just outlines, not filled with color; when user hovers over a specific resizer, the cursor would change - this is how Gimp does it (third example in the pic, although the cursor is normal, in the actual app it changes to be an arrow pointing West-North)

4) Lastly, a somewhat convoluted example I already mentioned, have a key combination that would enable alternative (high visibility?) coloring of the resizers - the user would choose two colors and have the ability to enable one or the other with a key combination.

P.S.: the color setting doesn't seem to work for me for new documents either :/

I've just seen new handles and have to object the change. This kind of GUI makes app looks unprofessional. If I may suggest, why not adding 1px white stroke handle points? That'll make them visible.

on top of it, the active area of the handles is not 100% correct...

i can fully cover the square with the pointer and i still don't get a resize handle... (see the attached screenshot)

smaller is better, yes!

... but vladimir's proposal is probably even better... :-)
