|Target Version||Fixed in Version|
|Summary||0001156: Auto-adjust column/frame leading to fit nearest line|
|Description||It could be very useful to have Scribus automatically adjust the leading on a block of text in a frame so that the text automatically fit the column neatly. If a line almost fit in the column, it could compress the rest of the text a little rather than leave a white gap at the bottom of the column. If there was a white gap where there is no more text to flow into the column, it could expand the text out to fit.|
This would reduce the amount of manual tweaking required to get neatly fitting columns, and make life a lot easier when the text gets re-flowed as the user wouldn't need to unto and re-do their spacing tweaks.
Ideally this would be a frame attribute and would not affect the stored style of the text - it'd be applied on the fly. That would prevent problems when auto-adjusted text gets reflowed into another frame.
Of course, this couldn't eliminate manual column adjustment - it'd look terrible if a column was almost empty, for one thing.
This could work extremely well in conjunction with the text blocks in bug 0001155.
