Summary0014771: vertical text distribution
DescriptionScribus doesn't have a tool to distribute text vertically (centralize, justify, top, bottom). For books (I'm a book publisher) it is imperative that all pages have text justified vertically, except for chapter end page. I make layout for books with 500 pages, so it's impraticable to do this manualy, patiently adjusting the space between lines or paragraphes until the text ends exactly at the bottom of the text box. It's a pity because Scribus is opensource and would be nice to use it...
Is there some plane to build this tool in the future?

only "justify" is missing.
the scribus development code already has top, center and bottom alignment (with some limits that make it mostly not usable for a full book... but that is to be expected).

also, in most cases the vertical justification as you describe it, seems to be a bad option.

as i wrote to you in the forum, a user has presented a use case that is somehow acceptable (but it's not a book at all!). but even there, i'm not 100% convinced that the justification is as useful as you think it is.

as normander wrote to you in the forum, for books you should really consider using the baseline grid and -- in that case -- a dynamic line height is not what most people will want.

tweaking the various horizontal spaces to avoid widows and orphans is a better way for vertically justifying a book, but this has already been asked for in a different ticket.

This is fixed in our development version, and will not, can not, be backported.
