|Fixed in Version||1.5.2.svn|
|Summary||0012463: Multiple Duplicate does not place items on the correct page in Windows > Outline|
|Description||When Multiple Duplicate is used on an item, even if the offset applied to it make it appear on another page, in Windows > Outline it will appear in the originating page and not in its resulting page.|
Multiple Duplicate is a handy way to populate long documents with similar editable items and so it emulates editable master pages. In such situation all duplicated items appear on a new page and should appear as this in Windows > Outline.
|Steps To Reproduce||1) Create a new document:|
Size: A4 or Letter
Number of Pages: 10
2) Add an item on Page 1 (example: small Text Frame)
3) Select the item and Item > Duplicate/Transform > Multiple Duplicate
4) Set Multiple Duplicate as follows:
Number of Copies: 9
Vertical gap: 12 in or 30 cm (about the height of the page)
Now there is an item on each page of the document.
In Windows > Outline all the items are listed under Page 1.
|Additional Information||Tested with Scribus 1.5.0.svn (19307 and 19340)|
|Tags||No tags attached.|
Step to reproduce :
- Create 30cm high document
- Add 10 pages
- Add frame on top of 1st page, select it (frame could be 1 cm high and 1cm wide)
- Multiple duplicate frame 10 times with 32 cm vertical move or gap as you wish
- See : all pages now have a frame on them
- See in outline window : all frames appear listed in the first page (thats the bug)
||Confirmed with 1.5.0.svn (19307)|
When I read the issue and understand it I have option to do that :
- I can add option to the user to do duplicate in each page.
- I can add option to the user to do duplicate in all page and put the number of page .
If you see this will be helpful ,please inform me to start coding.
In scribus, all objects belong to a page, and idealy, that page is the page they appear in. The page number has not a major role, but it helps in the outline view and in some other tools.
Hence, simply the page # an item belongs to should be the page # it appears in.
More precisely and as for now, it is the position of the top left corner of the item that should determine its page #.
If this situation normal in the scribus?
Do you think that normal if the duplicate appear under the page1 in the outline of document?
Do you accept any change in the code to add new feature?
I dont think the new feature you describe is of any use.
Please just fix the bug and that will be perfect.
Watfa, I like your idea and the impulse to be creative. I think it's worth examining more in a different ticket if you want to make a feature request that would be fine :)
I agree w/ jluc that lets keep the conversation in this ticket specifically about the bug.
