Summary | 0014267: Get image problem - MAJOR issue with digital printing of JPG images
Description | Sir, There is a problem with the Get Image function, at least for JPG files. When I try to load a file, a little rectangle shows up at the right bottom of the image frame. If you manipulate the picture, e.g. adjust the image to the frame, this little rectangle disappears. No way to understand what this icon means (not described in Help files) If you export such .sla file to a PDF/X3 format, no apparent issue, you do not see this rectangle If you make a flip file of this PDF, you do not see this oject. If you edit the PDF file whith Foxit, you do not see this object. ISSUE: This little rectangle is PRINTED by digitial printing services. So in essence it is impossible to print correctly a 1.5.2 file through such service. Regards, Philippe

>> When I try to load a file, a little rectangle shows up at the right bottom of the image frame This square is a placeholder for the low resolution image symbol which is currently missing in the new icon set (remember that all 1.5.x releases are development versions not meant to be used in production). So when this square appears, that means the image has a too low resolution to be printed with good quality. >> ISSUE: This little rectangle is PRINTED by digitial printing services. So in essence it is impossible to print correctly a 1.5.2 file through such service. No idea how that may happen. The PDF export code DOES NOT export at any point that placeholder icon in the final file. PDF file analysis shows that a sla file which contains N images result in a PDF file with N PDF image resources whose size correspond to those placed in the sla file if image resampling has not been enabled in PDF export dialog. So you should ask your digital print service how they print something which is essentially not there. |

Block is a category for releases. Not for issues. |

I did a few more tests and checked again that this rectangle is not in the exported PDF. So basically there is nothing we can do if your print provider print something that is not there. Closing. |
