Summary0014757: Inline Items: Add an option to save the vertical offset in a text frame
DescriptionAdjusting the vertical offset of Inline Items can be a chore, because they are by default bound to use the baseline, like a letter. Most of the time, however, the vertical placement needs to be adjusted to negative vertical values, depending on the surrounding font and its size.

It would be great if we could allow for Inline Items to store the vertical (and potentially horizontal) offset.

good idea. but i would use the same names as in the fonts.
as an example, an inline item could have a baseline.

the question is: how to define such a behavior "before" the item is placed as a inline item (and, as an example, placed in the scrapbook for further use...)

one possible implementation could use styles.
on the other side, i'd like this to be set in a visual way.
hard to do with styles.

not easy to implement it in a good way,, but it could have used the feature in the past...

What do you think about making "vertically centred between the ascender height and descender height" the default and permit users to change the value in a separate dialogue? This one could be called "Inline Objects Placement" or something similar. It would only be available in the Edit mode for Inline Items.

default should be the bottom of the item, as it probably is now.

and i would call it the baseline.

and i'd like to be able to set it by dragging it like a guide (we could allow to pick a guide to define it as the baseline... defining in the PP would add a "special" guide (the guide would not be special, but the items editor would track it as the baseline)

Is there any way at all to edit an item once it is inlined (besides editing the sla)? Either it disappeared in 1.5.5 + current svn, or it's not obvious. (Talking about the inlineD item, not the inline item.)
