Summary0015702: Missing export of gradient filled area in SVG graphics
DescriptionExporting a document containing SVG graphics with areas filled with gradients these are converted to plain colours. The problem exists on a Mac with Mac OSX 10.14.3 (Mojave); everything works fine on Mac with OSX 10.13.6 (High Sierra). I tried using both Adobe Illustrator SVG files as well as Inkscape plain SVG files. I read the PDF with different PDW readers.
Additional InformationI use PDF 1.5.
The file gradient.svg was created with Adobe Illustrator CS5 (v. 15.0.0)
the file gradient-02.svg was created with Inkscape 0.92.2
Doing this test it seems that it could, less or minus, works with some color but not with radial gradients…

Sorry, I didn't uploaded the requested files previously; I attached them to my answer to your reply…

Well on Windows both Firefox and Adobe Reader show the gradients perfectly in the PDF you uploaded. So I suspect the bug you see is really in Mac OSX Mojave.

Here is what I see in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

After your answer I opened the pdf file with Adobe Acrobat Reader (on my Mac with Mojave) and everything is perfect. So I guess the problem is in Preview software. I made other tests:
1 - I moved the file on my MacBook Pro with High Sierra and on it Preview shows it correctly;
2 - I opened the same file on Mojave with Preview and it was corrupt (as I expected), then I exported it from Preview as a new PDF. I opened both files with Adobe Acrobat Reader: the original one was fine, the exported one was corrupt.
3 - I did the same on High Sierra, on it both files where fine, so I opened them with Preview on Mojave: the original one where corrupt, the exported one was perfect!
So it seems that the version of Preview running on Mojave didn't interpret PDF files created by Scribus correctly, introducing artefacts that modifies the file itself. The PDF files exported from Scribus are OK, but cannot be modified using Preview on Mac OSX Mojave.

…and the High Sierra Preview can export the PDF file so Preview on Mojave read it correctly…

Closing this old issue as the problem comes from MacOS Preview.
