Summary | 0017324: Conformity to the GWG specifications
Description | Through the report of one of our users https://forums.scribus.net/index.php/topic,5695.msg25049.html we found out in the forums that there is something called GWG specifications for printers: https://gwg.org/technical-specifications/gwg-2015-specifications/ I wonder if: - those specification are really relevant in the print world, and - if Scribus can do anyhting to conform to the profiles specified in there.

Interesting. It seems that the GWG only applies their specifications to the available Adobe Preflight criteria. You can download different profiles and settings for different programs from their website. https://gwg.org/application-settings/ In order to support the GWG specifications, we would need to expand the preflight options. I think it would also make sense to outsource the preflight profiles to external files. This would allow printers to create and distribute their own profiles for Scribus. I also found a current table with the 2022 GWG specifications. This table contains different configurations for different applications, such as digital printing, packaging, magazines and newspapers. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1fz7I7pVl0uOTqEqmXeFIEo2LQm97AluHnlTMikzHenI/edit?gid=1517349650#gid=1517349650 |
