Summary0017371: Scribus dependency removed in Python 3.13, leads to removal from Debian APT repos
DescriptionAccording to the Debian package maintainers, Scribus depends on a deprecated module in the Python standard library, which is slated for removal in Python 3.13 (the target version for the upcoming Debian release): https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1084539 .

This has led the package maintainers to remove Scribus from the upcoming Debian release. It may be resolved via a legacy package, but currently scribus is absent from trixie and apparently has been for some time.

Is there a plan to remove this dependency? That might make this situation easier to resolve.

Scripter2 is not something we really maintain - and would only be turned by setting "-DWANT_SCRIPTER2=ON".
Scripter1 is what we release with and we release with Python 3.13. There is no issue for Debian as long as they don't set that CMake variable.
