Platform | PC | OS | Linux (Ubuntu) | OS Version | 1.2.2.1 |
Product Version | 1.3.3cvs
Fixed in Version | 1.3.6svn
Summary | 0003473: Pasting from clipboard does not work
Description | Text copied to clipboard from any programme other than Scribus itself will not be pasted into Scribus. This already was not working in version 1.2.4; tested on another install as well (1.2.0 and 1.3.3cvs).
Steps To Reproduce | Open any website, select a bit of text and Ctrl+C / copy to clipboard. Open a new Scribus document, and try pasting (Ctrl+V) text into a text box.

works here with win build from Mar 16th. on canvas and story editor. |
|
This is not necessarily a Scribus issue. Copy'n paste between different apps doesn't always work well under Linux, especially if the apps use different tool kits. Under SuSE 9.3 you can copy'n'paste, but have to use the keyboard (Ctrl+V)- a known issue, I suppose. This may be different under Ubuntu, which is GTK+ based. |
|
Thanks for clarifying the 'different apps' issue. Using Ctrl + V / Ctrl + C does not make any difference (will be testing in Mandrake in a few days to understand better what is platform, and what is Scribus). Strangely enough, copy + pasting in the canvas between applications *sometimes* works, but usually only once per document. All is fine in the story editor. |

X11 has two clipboards |
|
Personally when it doesn't work copy to Kate and re-c/p to Scribus. Works all the time. I gather that it's a formatting issue or something. |
|
I use Ubuntu 6.06 with Scribus 1.3.3.4. When I copy text from for example Open Office and then open Story Editor (ctrl + y on some frame) and hit CTRL+V or select Paste it WORKS. But, when I FIRST open Story Editor, then copy text from Open Office (CTRL+C) and then try to paste it it DOESN'T work - old clipboard text is pasted. |
|
Whenever I copy something in Scribus, the Klipper Icon disappears for a second or two (with Scribus 1.3.3.4 and KDE3.5.5). Pasting from other applications works fine if I select the item in Klipper first, to make sure it is on both clipboards, and then paste into Scribus. Is any of you running Klipper as well? |

It's been three years and this bug is still in effect as of version 1.3.3.12 in Ubuntu Jaunty. Is anyone still working on it? EDIT: Nevermind, seems to be working in 1.3.5. YAY :D |
|
Resolving then. At this stage of 1.3.3.x life, we won't fix it in that branch anyway |
