Tout d'abord félicitations pour le travail entrepris jusqu'ici!

J'aurais une nouvelle fonction à proposer. J'en ai déjà parlé sur le forum français de scribus: Serait-il possible d'intégrer une option qui permettrait d'intégrer des ombres ( pour lesquelles on pourrait régler la progression )à des cadres de photos et à des objets dans le but de pouvoir donner plus de profondeur à des mises en page? Cette fonction existe et est très utile dans indesign.

No dpulicate. There is a similar effect in GIMP which is scripted, but I understand the reporter's request. That drop shadow tool in ID is simple and works easily.

Let's take it a step further than InDesign, by allowing the user to either have it flattened for PDF1.3 / PS, instead of transparency-only.

At ale's request, I'm attaching the patch for my partial solution to this, see http://lists.scribus.net/pipermail/scribus/2012-January/045621.html

It's not a complete implementation and as such not deployable as-is; it's merely a starting point. It has however been working great for me for years now.

Since I haven't switched yet, the patch is still against /branches/Version135.

As your version adds information to Scribus documents, isn't that a file format change?
Anyway, why do you think the implementation isn't complete (I haven't tested it yet, sorry)?

Yes, it's a file format change (but it's backwards compatible -- open a file saved in my version with a regular version, or the other way around and you just won't have shadows).

There are several reasons why this should only be considered partial. Follow the links through the mailing list threads for more details, but the single most important is this: You only get the shadows when you export to PDF (>=1.4, since it's using transparency). The UI doesn't show the shadow, so you'll have to "trust" and remember that an object has a shadow (or always check the controls in the properties pallette). Having implemented it, I can personally live with the drawback, but that's obviously not something you put in front of users.
