Hi Gustavo, Does the temp.ps file exist ? |
Hi Peter, No the file does not exist. I shoud have mentioned that at first. Thanks Gustavo |
Have tested it here with 1.3.3.5cvs and 1.3.4cvs, kprinter works as usual, the tmp.ps fils is also there. So i think it might be a problem with your document. Can you upload it here? |
Hello Franz, This problem doesn't depend on the document. It happens with every document I create on Scribus. Regards Gustavo |
gustavo, can you paste the output of gs -h ? |
sure, here it goes: [gustavo@localhost ~]$ gs -h ESP Ghostscript 8.15.1 (2005-09-22) Copyright (C) 2004 artofcode LLC, Benicia, CA. All rights reserved. Report bugs to bug-gs@ghostscript.com, using the form in Bug-form.htm. [gustavo@localhost ~]$ Note that, kprinter works fine here with other programs. |
Another trick.. sometimes you need to feed kprinter the command as: kprinter --stdin I found this using kprinter with gnucash.. it does a better job creating PDF than the inbuilt options from Gnome print :) It might be the difference with ESP Ghostscript and hand compiled GS |
Hello Peter, kprinter --stdin doesn't work from Scribus. Furthermore, seems that this problem is related to a race condition. After more testing I realized that printing via kprinter "sometimes" works, othertimes results in an error. Additional file attached. |

Update: Please look at the code from scribus.cpp: if (!options->toFile) { // print and delete the PS file QString cmd; if (options->useAltPrintCommand) { cmd = options->printerCommand + " "+filename; system(cmd); } else { QString cc; cmd = "lpr -P" + options->printer; if (options->copies > 1) cmd += " -#" + cc.setNum(options->copies); cmd += options->printerOptions; cmd += " "+filename; system(cmd); } unlink(filename); // here I kill the file, therefore kprinter fails } The tmp.ps file is being deleted to early. So, please either: - do not delete it: I don't see a problem with this, it will be overwritten on the next print - use a unique filename on /tmp and do not delete either (tmp as the system cleanup for that) Relevant for 1.3.3.5 |
