Summary0005192: Convert color list items to CMYK or RGB
DescriptionThere should be a way to convert all RGB items in the list into CMYK or vice versa.
Additional InformationFor example, if I import a SVG graphic, I'd like to be able to convert the imported items into CMYK mode.

Additionally, there might even be a window that would show all the colors that are candidate for conversion, and the user would be offered a choice between converting only the selected itesm, or the whole list.

Exporting to PDF with the Print destination will autoconvert to CMYK, but I guess its an idea to be able to convert a colour

I know it converts to CMYK with Print destination, but on logo projects and such, I never let CMS do the work. However, I need the auto-convert feature because It's just too tedious to click on the dropdown in every color that needs converting... :(

But that auto-convert feature will use CMS anyway.... However, true, converting color to rgb or cmyk could be made more convenient by adding a context menu to color manager

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I always convert color to CMYK when doing color-critical work, so I don't have to worry about out-of-gamut colors. Plus sometimes RED for example would contain cyan if I let the CMS handle conversion, so I manually remove cyan from all red items in the list... That kind of tweaking is inevitable no matter how good a CMS engine we use.

Generally working with CMYK will not prevent use of out of gamut colors!!!
Currently in 133x Scribus assumes that working CMYK color space and printer color space are identical. In these conditions, of course, a CMYK color will never be out of gamut. Starting with 134, that won't be the case anymore as for example you will be able to use Euroscale as working color space and Swop as output colorspace. In these conditions, given Euroscale is somewhat larger that Swop, a CMYK color may well be out of gamut...

There is a special kind of profile (device link profiles) that can handle such cases and prevent apparition of cyan when converting R255G0B0 for eg. Few applications can handle them. Using such profiles can however reduce colorimetric precision of conversion for certain ranges of colors.
