|Summary||0010091: Unwanted space appears at the beginning and end of text frames|
|Description||I am a new Scribus user (188.8.131.52 on windows) and I’m baffled by a problem with unwanted text behaviour. I will be grateful for any insight that you could give me.|
The problem is that on the beginning of the first line and the end of the last line of text in the frame - a space appears that seems to be equivalent in length to the word that should be occupying it.
My workflow consists of finalising individual chapters and then ‘sewing’ them together by importing subsequent chapters onto the first one. The problem now appears once the subsequent chapters have been imported. The problem is not evident in the individual chapters. I have attached sla and pdf files as examples. Test A is the first chapter, Test B contains the subsequent chapter and the problem starts at the bottom of page eight of testb.pdf
Actually I managed to import 10 or so chapters when I noticed the problem in the second chapter only. When I went back to rebuild the book form scratch the problem appeared in every imported chapter.
|Steps To Reproduce||see attached files|
Edit: see 0010091:0032082
|Additional Information||I also notice when viewing the second chapter under 400% resolution that the text seems to extend slight beyond the right had edge of the text frame. It doesn’t seem to be a problem that is exported to pdf files but it doesn’t seem right. I wonder if this is a symptom of the same problem.|

||First - why you dont use 1.4.0 release candidates or even 1.3.9 ??|
if you're not happy, with 184.108.40.206, please check if 1.4 RC5 and see if it works better for you (as cezary said :-).
all bugs for 220.127.116.11 are going to be fixed in 1.4 (if still happening...)
OK - I have now installed 1.4.0.rc - but the problem persists.
||china56 - could you make screenshots? I dont see problems with yours files, but I have font substituted and other formatting after opening.|
||If you open the attached file and have a look at page 9 of testb.pdf - you can see the spaces at the beginning and end of the page. Do you need screenshots of the problem in Scribus? - if so I will make them later today.|
Yes, I need, because when I open your files I have font substitution dialogue and I open your files with other fonts, so text is formatted in different way and I dont see any additional spaces.
Document seems unstable, when imported into 1.5 : linked text frames sometime seem to duplicate...
But I confirm with 1.5 and upload screenshot : 2nd line of last paragraph or page 8 shouldbe justified but isnt. This paragraph continues on page 9. It should begin at the margin, but is begining with first line offset as if it was a new paragraph.
||Peter, would you test this one as well ?|
- Document disintegrate in 1.5.3svn
- Disapper some Text Chains.
- Text frames lapping
- Fonts replacement problems (live, but Scribus want to replace)
Longer need time for testing.
Tested r21360; 1.5.3svn
"The problem is that on the beginning of the first line and the end of the last line of text in the frame - a space appears that seems to be equivalent in length to the word that should be occupying it."
This is because: Links text frames show the wrong place! See: 0010091.png
"...the first line and the end of the last line of text in the frame - a space appears that seems to be equivalent in length to the word that should be occupying it."
This is because: text frames between there is no connection! See: 0010091_2.png
Connection created the text frames: the error will cease! See: 0010091_3.png
If I use the "Page -- Import -- Select -- testb.sla -- Create page(s): At End" Function, Scribus he added the pages plus new text frames the background. The "Text Chain" built these frames. Original frames lost contact. 0010091_4.png
If after deleted 9. page lower frame, scribus the inserted pages It fills the frame the document first text.
