This is a great idea. I've uploaded the current preference page for 'Page Sizes' if someone is inspired to make a mockup or even a patch to make this happen... have at it :) |

Done already. Here is a tiny UI polish to make it more obvious though. A tiny <3KB patch. newdocdialog-preset-polish-v1.3.patch (2,439 bytes)

It's now possible to add new page sizes from the New Document dialog. But it should also be possible to do it in the preferences... Concerning the modification of the button, my proposal is: - The patch does not belong to this ticket. - I would dare to say, that we should use the same icon as for adding the styles (in the Content Palette). Not the floppy disk, Not a text. - I think that the patch should be part of other small changes to the New Document that would give the creation and listing of custom sizes some better ergonomics. |

Yes, agree @ale. I was in a hurry I guess. So this ticket is pretty much close, right? For other ideas there should be new tickets. And my patch and comment could be deleted (lets not make it any messy, and keep it focused what the ticket says). |
No, this ticket is still valid: there is no way to add a new named size from the preferences. Since the user can manage the sizes from the preferences, it should be possible to add a new named size (that does not match an existing one...) from there, too. Also, the "User" category should always be shown, even if it's empty. |
Now, that I further think about it: The right list should be a sortable flat list with the preferred sizes. The "category" could be added after the name or be shown in a tooltip (for the case of ambiguous page names) The folder structure does not make sense (anymore) and just makes it harder to check which page sizes have been selected. |
