Summary0012721: Improper Rendering of Assamese Unicode Fonts in Scribus 1.4.4 and in former versions.
DescriptionScribus is now a days a broadly used open source DTP software. It is user friendly and hence can be conveniently used even by the beginners.
But unfortunately as in the previous versions, Scribus 1.4.4 is unable to render Assamese Unicode Scripts properly. Microsoft Office, Open Office, Libre Office or GIMP 2.8 etc. however properly render Assamese Unicode Scripts like the other Indic Complex Scripts, like Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit etc. It makes it impossible to use Scribus for the DTP of Assamese Scripts.
I request the Developers to solve the issue as soon as possible.

Scribus basically does not support non Latin languages. Support for complex scripts requires a rewrite of the text layout engine which is anything but trivial. So this is not something which will be happening quickly.
