|Summary||0016669: Scribus needs to be updated error on install/launch|
|Description||This happened first on 1.5.6 installer and then tried the 1.5.7 (both behave the same way).|
When I install on the latest macOS Monterey platform, and launch scribus for the first time. Im presented with an error that states:
" Scribus 1.5.7 needs to be updated
This app will not work with future versions of macOS and needs to be updated to improve compatibility. Contact the developer for more information".
The warning has two buttons on it.
1. Learn more.
If you press ok, it takes you into the program.
If you press Learn more, it takes you to the following web browser link: https://www.python.org/doc/sunset-python-2/
attached is the image of the warning.

I forgot to point out that, running a standard intel based OSX machine.
Im using parallels virtual desktop to spin up a macOS Monterey version to test.
After a bit more investigation, it appears that this error appears as the app is using Python 2.
When I tried installing the "scribus-1.5.7-CatalinaPy3.dmg" version that has python 3, I don't get that error anymore, but another one as posted in https://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=16670.
It appears the next release of macOS will not allow the app to run anymore using python 2.
I dont know the inner workings of how scribus is packaged etc, but is there plans to make the python 3 version run without having to rely on xcode installed ? (the same way it works now with py2)
