| Summary | 0012015: Multiple file selection in file selectors and the Picture Browser | ||||
| Description | One of the great features of InDesign is the possibility to select multiple files to be opened/"placed". It would be great to have something similar in Scribus, too. Given the current state of the code, it might make sense to enable this for - File > Open (every selected file will be opened in a separate window/tab) - File > Import > Get Vector File (insert icon remains active until all drawings have been placed in the document) - Right-click > Paste File (insert icon remains active until all drawings have been placed in the document) - Picture Browser (an insert icon for subsequent placement would be needed; drag'n'drop is already working). | ||||
| Additional Information | Looking beyond 1.5.0, I wonder whether it'd be possible to re-use/re-arrange the code from the Picture Browser, Insert > Frames (for text/pixmaps), and right-click > Paste File into something as intuitive as InDesign's "Place" command. | ||||

0011626 "Improve Import management" patch would add a multiple file import and place feature that looks close to what you to ask for. |
It's close, but it doesn't cover everything. |
Im not sure to understand fully your request since i dont use In Design. As for 0011626 : it enables to select a bunch of various type files at once (texts, images, vectors) and places each of them where the user wants it. However, it doesnt change the "paste" behaviour : is this the only missing part ? |

Christoph_s, can you clarify based on jluc's question? Thanks |

This is a very important feature indeed. being able to select multiple images to place from the import images command. I can see latest scribus manages to get multiple images when dragging from an external folder BUT I guess this feature should be similar being done from the import menus of the program interface. |
